Parliament Speaker to Ethiopia

Yesterday, Mongolia’s Parliament Speaker D.Demberel and his spouse left for Ethiopia to take part at the 120th International Parliamentary Union Assembly to be held on April 6-12 in Addis Ababa city, Ethiopia.

The Assembly, which is coinciding with the 120th Anniversary of the IPU, is being held under a topic “Building Peace, Democracy and Development in times of crisis” and delegation are discussing present situation of world’s politics, economics and society.

A discussion is being had on issues of validating a contract about non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and universal prohibition for a nuclear test.

The IPU is the main organization, which has brought together parliaments from the world states, was established in 1889 in Paris, France. Its headquarter locates in Geneva, Switzerland. Mongolia joined the union as a member in 1962.


Parliament Vice Speaker G.Batkhuu and MPs R.Bud and R.Rash are including in a composition of the Mongolia’s Parliament Delegation.

The parliament Speaker was seen off by Parliament Vice Speaker N.Enkhbold, an adviser of the Parliament Speaker S.Banzragch, Secretary of the Office, S.Magnaisuren and other official figures at the “Chingiss Khan” international airport.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, is a landlocked country situated in the Horn of Africa. Ethiopia is bordered by Eritrea to the north, Sudan to the west, Kenya to the south, Somalia to the east and Djibouti to the northeast. Its size is 1,100,000 km² with an estimated population of over 78,000,000. Its capital is Addis Ababa.
